THIS! This is what we are talking about when we talk about “independent living”.
Not where someone lives so much as their freedom to live where they want.
Not some program or service so much as how each person can set up the supports and services we want and need.
Independent living means we can break free of the shackles society tries to put on us. The ableism that attempts to define us.
Our fight is not over, but we can unite to forge our place in society as equal and powerful citizens.
